April 1st was a great day for Litton Mortgage. No, not because I pulled an AWESOME April Fools Joke (I'm usually great at those, but was a little too busy this year to conjure up something really good)....anyway, April 1st marked the 1 year anniversary of being in our new Shreveport offices at 7607 Fern Avenue, Suites 1101-1102 in the Sand Beach Office Park.

April 1st also marked the day that we opened our new office in West Monroe, LA where Darren Hodge, Managing Partner, will run the Northeast Louisiana office. Our office in West Monroe is located at 2000 North 7th Street, Suite A, West Monore, LA 71291. Across from Green Sports and Capital One right down the road from the West Monroe High School Rebel Stadium.

Business is booming and interest rates are still great. The Shreveport/Bossier area and West Monroe/ Monro areas are doing great. We are seeing appreciation in our local real estate markets. That is a huge blessing as a lot of other cities around the US are experiencing the opposite.

As we wrapped up the 1st quarter of 2011, it was amazing to see God's blessings and great to see that also we were able to help make a difference in our community. During this 1st quarter, through the help of many friends via Facebook  , we were able to help the Holland-Mullins family as well as Team Raechal. Vanessa Holland Mullins was a dear friend of mine from our "growing up" days at Summer Grove Baptist Church. She went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer and left behind her husband, Rob, their newborn baby boy and their 2 daughters. We were able to donate to help this precious family. We were also able to make a donation to Team Raechal. I graduated high school with Raechal at Southwood High School and she is in a battle with cancer. Finances become strained and expenses mount up during medical battles, so it was good to be able to donate to such wonderful families going through such difficult times. I believe beyond the donations of money, the continual donations of prayers are needed. I hope you will join us in praying for both the Holland-Mullins Family and Team Raechal.

Also, this first quarter, we were able to donate to the Bossier City Police Department as they helped get clothes for kids. We are proud of our officers and the time they invest in not only protecting our community, but providing for needs found in our community.

Next quarter, we will be making a donation to ChildLife at Dallas Children's Medical Center. The goal of ChildLife is to make kids smile during difficult times at the hospital. Kelly Thompson is the proud dad of Thomas who had leukemia and recently went into remission. ChildLife has made a big difference in their lives and we want to help give back so that they can get additional things and resources they need to help kids smile. Please also keep Thomas and the Thompson family in your prayers as they have a long regimen of remission treatments ahead all year long.

Remember to count your blessings. Remember to give. It doesn't matter how much or how little you are able to give. Just give. It's a matter of the size of your heart, not the size of the gift.
